About Aletsch Arena

Imagine having the option of being transported to 3 different car free villages of Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiescheralp surrounded by stunning vistas of the longest glacier in the alps with a total length of 23 kms. This is the Alestsch Arena, listed under the Unesco World Heritage Site having around 11 billion tonnes of ice. With exhilarating views of 4000m peaks including Matterhorn, Jungfrau and Mont Blanc (Europe’s highest mountain, located in France) this place is a must visit for all. Easily accessible from Interlaken or Zermatt.

Swiss Pass holders get a discount of roughly 50% with the Swiss Travel Pass and children below 16 are free if travelling with parents.

Travel from Interlaken or Zermatt to Betten Talstation.

From Betten Station it is a short cable car ride to Bettmeralp followed by a walk through the picturesque village of Bettmeralp with its lovely chapel and lake up to the peak Bettmerhorn with the gondolas.

You can spend their time by seeing the glacier on the view point platform or going to the glacier world.

On the way back to Zermatt or Interlaken visit the beautiful town of Brig

Brig is a beautiful small historic town ideally located on the way to Aletsch Arena from Interlaken or Zermatt. It is located close to the Italian border and also referred to as the border station between Switzerland and Italy. Places one can visit are the Stockalper Palace or just walk through his charming old town sipping coffee or relishing the famous Swiss chocolate.

Things to do

All four view points in the Aletsch Arena, Hohfluh, Moosfluh, Bettmerhorn and Eggishorn, are simply breathtaking! The view of the 20 kilometre long Great Aletsch Glacier is truly a touching moment. It is not for nothing that the area is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Accessible by cable car from Fiescheralp, this being the highest view point of all 4, from here you can see not only the entire 20 kilometres of the Great Aletsch Glacier, but also Konkordiaplatz and the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

From this view point located just 200 metres from Bettmerhorn mountain station, you can enjoy unobstructed views of the impressive straight section and the stunning big curve of the Great Aletsch Glacier. After all these breathtaking impressions

This view point can be reached in summer as well as in winter with the Moosfluh combi-lift, here you have unobstructed views of the Great Aletsch Glacier all year round.

This perfect vantage point is to admire the glacier’s impressive curves. In winter, the Hohfluh chairlift of Aletsch Bahnen whisks you to the top in comfort; in summer, the viewing platform can be reached on foot via the hiking trail.

To safely explore the Great Aletsch Glacier with an experienced mountain guide, guided glacier tours are available daily at the tourist destinations of Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiesch-Eggishorn

There is 300 kilometres of prepared and well-secured hiking and walking trails in Aletsch Arena to get spectacular view points and a whole lot of peace of mind. Strap on your hiking boots and off you go!

The nine-hole golf course of Riederalp Golf Club is the highest-altitude golf course in Switzerland. A round of golf costs CHF 60 or CHF 80 depending on the number of holes (9 or 18). This place guarantees plenty of fun for everyone with not many strokes.
